Stimela, meaning “Steam Engine / Locomotive”, formed in 1981 ably led by charismatic frontman Ray Phiri, a professional guitarist since 1962. Their funky blend of American Soul with inherently African rhythms and music caught the attention of Paul Simon.

Jeff King Band Featuring Greg Porter (USA)
The Band is a well known outfit in New York City which regularly plays in many venues across the city. Its strong rhythm and horn sections will be featuring an amazing R&B singer, Gregory Porter on vocals, accompanied by Jeffrey King on Saxophone, Craig Harris on Trombone, Denton Darien on Piano, Thaddeus Expose on Bass, Larry Johnson on Drums and Abdus Sabor on Percussion.

Concord Nkabinde
As a Bass Guitarist having had so much experience from working with musicians from Jazz to Rock, from Gospel to traditional African styles and anything in between, Concord is now finding his own sound and direction. This is a journey he would like to share with you.

A well known poet, who has performed on many platforms in the whole of South Africa. She will be doing her regular Xhosa and Setswana poetry selections.

A well known traditional Setswana music group, who have represented South Africa internationally many times, as well as at the FIFA World Cup announcement.

Badimo Jazz Band
Up and coming jazz band in the Bojanala District, plays regularly in jazz venues in and around Rustenburg.

African Marimba Entertainment Ensemble

Randy Weston's African Rhythms Quintet (USA)
Randy Weston has never failed to make the connections between African and American music. His dedication is due in large part to his father, Frank Edward Weston, who told his son that he was "an African born in America." "He told me I had to learn about myself and about him and about my grandparents," Weston said in an interview, "and the only way to do it was I'd have to go back to the Motherland one day."
