Black History Month has been recognized annually since 1929, first as Negro History Week and later as Black History Month, it was created by African Americans as a celebration of Black Achievement in Science, Arts, Sports, Business, Politics, Religion and History of Humankind. Now you can join that celebration in the Motherland, the continent of your ancestors, at home in South Africa for a Jazz inspired Family Reunion™.
The first inaugural event of the Jazz Africa Heritage, the JAH 2007 Pilgrimage Tour, was hosted in the North West Province of South Africa from 15 to 25 February 2007.
The North West Parks and Tourism Board invited Jazz African Heritage Patrons in the USA to join the Central Jazz Consortium led by Chairman Jitu Weusi, to visit the North West Province as part of celebrating Black History Month on the Motherland. The tour included visits to no less than three World Heritage Sites.
