15 FEBRUARY 2007

* Opening Ceremony *

The JAH Opening Ceremony will take place at the Cradle of Humankind, representative of the origin of the human species beginning the pilgrimage of the African Diaspora. Guests will take part in a traditional naming ceremony, comprising a soil bath, hand washing in blessed water and selection of and African Name. On completion, partakers will receive a beaded necklace in their African name and a framed declaration and story explaining the name. They will then take a tour of the area.

* International African Market Place - Day Event *

This is an authentic African market boasting arts and crafts; indigenous games, music and dance and storytelling. Join in the sights and sounds of Africa with this mind arresting explosion of cultural colours.

In this one-of-a-kind celebration, taking place at the Civic Centre in Phokeng, a legendary African American songstress will unite with a few of her African sisters in song to move your heart and soul.

Join other lovers of smooth Jazz at the Sun City Superbowl as they soak up the cool rhythms, as played by the kings of Jazz guitar. In this event, an American king of Jazz will share the stage with a couple of his African counterparts in a setting designed to let you hear the motherland calling.

* African Heritage Cup - Day Event *

Come to the Royal Bafokeng Sports Palace and see two renowned soccer teams challenge one another in a match intended to honour Africa's soccer achievers and their contribution to the game of soccer.

* African Heritage Mix Festival - Day Event *

A few of South Africa's Platinum selling contemporary artists mix it up at the Superbowl for the Heritage Cup’s soccer-loving audience.

* International Media Day - Day Event *

African American headliner artists, together with their African counterparts, meet the press at the Sun City Hall of Treasure for an exclusive one-on-one press conference and sneak previews. International, continental, national, regional and community print and electronic media will be in attendance on this day.

* African Heritage - Day Seminars *

Seminar 1 - African Heritage inviting African Intelligentsia in academia to disseminate our collective heritage, to understand the past we inherited as we plot our present and future course. We conclude by developing a practical Thesis on the critical role of heritage as force for building the bond between Africa and its Diaspora.

Seminar 2 - The preservation and propagation of African Culture, extending invitation to leaders and practitioners of African Culture on the continent and in the Diaspora to participate in forums dedicated to unlocking the power inherent in our culture. Develop a document as a reference guide to African Culture.

* African Social Development & the Diaspora - Day Seminar *

We invite a sociologist from Africa and the Diaspora to deliberate on the health of our respective societies. We discuss what allies them and how to extract the best from our respective societies. A document on the healthy regeneration of our societies should arise from this gathering.

* Economic Development & the Diaspora - Day Seminar *

We invite an economist from Africa and the Diaspora to unpack the road map of Africa's phenomenal human and natural resources. This would conclude with a document for submission to NEPAD. This forum will provide a networking opportunity for business, micro and macro business leaders.

* Heritage Golf Day - Day Event *

Taking place at Sun City, this day is specially designed with a true African flavour. The line-up incorporates sports icons and corporate representatives and entertainment will take the form of classic Jazz.

* Heritage Gospel Festival - Evening Event *

This feast of gospel at the Mmabatho Convention Centre will combine prominent African American gospel greats and South Africa's pillars of gospel in a show that will bring you to cheers and tears

* The Motherland Concert - Day Event *

This magnificent, not-to-be-missed event is bound to go down in concert history. Incredible African American talent joins in concert with some of South Africa’s best. This mother of all shows is held at the Letlamoreng Dam in Mafikeng, and celebrates the indomitable spirit of Africans.

* Farewell to JAH with Metro FM - Day Event *

This gathering, taking place at Fountain Park in Tshwane, will be held in celebration of Jazz society in South Africa and the outstanding contributions which have been made in terms of revitalizing the sound of Jazz in South Africa.
